What is Subluxation

In 1987, the American Chiropractic Association defined subluxation to be an aberrant relationship between two articular structures that may have functional or pathological sequelae, causing an alteration in the biomechanical and or neurophysiological reflections of these articular structures, their proximal structures, and or body systems that may be directly or indirectly affected by them (ACA, 1987). Now what does this mean in more laymen terms? If your spine is twisted or out of alignment, it will put pressure on the nerves that run along your spine, this will cause pain and damage to your nerves, muscles, joints and bones and will start affecting your organs in a very negative way. It is very important to be checked for subluxation because, like high cholesterol, “You do not feel subluxation,” you will begin to feel the effect of subluxation but that is after the damage is already occurring in you body.

What effect will subluxation have on your health?

Each one of the nerves along the 24 vertebra supply a different organ and depending on where the subluxation is, will depend on what is affected. A few examples of these are…

If there are Subluxations in your cervical spine (neck):

Some of the things that will be affected will be your eyes, nose, mouth, ears, the blood supply to your head or your vocal cords. The effect of these Subluxations can cause, thyroid conditions, headaches, nervousness, head colds, high blood pressure, allergies, deafness, vision difficulties or laryngitis.

If there are Subluxations in you thoracic spine (mid back):

It will affect your heart, lungs, gall bladder, liver, stomach, pancreas, spleen, adrenal glands, kidneys or small intestine. The effects from having Subluxations in your mid spine can cause; asthma, heart conditions, bronchial conditions, gall bladder problems, liver conditions, stomach troubles or kidney troubles.

If there are Subluxations in your Lumbar spine (lower back):

It will affect your large intestine, appendix, sex organs, prostate gland or bladder.

These are the organs that are affected by Subluxation. Think about some of the symptoms that can be caused if your organs are not working to their full potential. A really good example of this would be, if there is a Subluxation in your mid spine, you could experience digestion problems. If you have Subluxations in your neck area, you could be having problems with your thyroid; causing hypo-thyroid or hyper-thyroid.

What you could do to see if you are affected by subluxation it to get an examination by a Chiropractor, it is important to get checked because if you have Subluxations, over time it will cause more damage. Dr. Vasko has been a practicing Chiropractor for 28 years now. He went to Palmer College. He will be able to answer any questions you might have about Subluxation. Describe fully your original problem:

I came in originally to see Dr. Vasko Because my lower back was thrown out.

Describe previous treatment by other Doctors or things you have done yourself ?

I’ve been to a physical therapist for my lower back. I bought an inversion table and I have done some of my own stretching exercises.

What has Chiropractic and Dr. Vasko done for you? What improvements have occurred so far?

Coming to see Dr. Vasko on a regular basis  has helped a lot, even though my treatment is not over. I can already feel a big difference with my standing, sitting and doing any other activities.

Do you have any other comments? How can you use Chiropractic in the future?

I didn’t think I would ever come to see a Chiropractor. I have dealt with back pain for a long time. All in all I am extremely thankful my mom pushed me to come and see Dr. Vasko. His staff are awesome as well!!!

I would like to share with others.
